Three people feared dead after a quarry collapsed in Meru

Three people died after they were buried alive when a quarry collapsed at Ntumburi in Buuri subcounty, Meru, on Tuesday.
One other person was found alive and taken to Kiirua Mission Hospital, the Kenya Red Cross Society said via Twitter.

Another person is missing, Red Cross said, adding its team was on site.
In an incident in the county on January 31, one person died after a quarry collapsed at Charuru village.

Two other miners escaped unhurt after they were rescued by Red Cross volunteers and police officers.

On December 10, 2015, a man was killed and two injured when the county's Mutonga quarry collapsed.

A worker told The Star the victim was hit by a huge rock as the quarry caved in.
On October 3 that year, four people died and one was seriously injured in Meru, when a quarry cliff caved in while they were excavating stones.
